Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in the Latinas First Foundation (LFF) Scholarship!

We are looking for Latina college-bound or currently-enrolled college students who would benefit from a non-traditional scholarship. They should be leaders inside and outside of the classroom. These students must pay it forward.

Scholarship Timeline:

  • Applications Open – October 31, 2018
  • Application Deadline – January 18, 2019
  • Application Review by LFF Committee – February 1-20, 2019
  • Scholarship Notification – March 1, 2019
  • Annual Luncheon and Scholarship Presentations – May 3, 2019
  • Scholarship Check Distribution – The scholarship funds will be awarded for the 2019-20 school year in August 2019 (scholarship amounts vary)

Trailblazer & Unsung Heroine Nomination Form

Please submit Trailblazer Awards Nominations via e-mail to info@latinasfirstfoundation.org. Submission deadline is January 31st, 2018, 11:59 pm MST. Latinas First Foundation Mission: Celebrate and elevate the Latina community by focusing on our cultural and historical contributions in Colorado while providing opportunities and non-traditional scholarships for the next generation.

    Please submit the following information in support of your nomination:
    › Application Review by Latinas First Foundation Committee – March 1-15, 2018
    › Awardee Notification – March 31, 2018
    › Annual Luncheon and Award Presentations – May 4, 2018
    › One nomination form per nominee with complete information.
    › Nominee's resume/bio describing her background and contributions.
    › Narrative supporting the criteria of your nomination and other pertinent details.
    › Up to five letters of support from individuals/organizations or other written materials that support the nomination.

    The Nomination Form and other documents should be submitted via e-mail in one single message as a PDF attachment. Please indicate Latinas First Foundation [Trailblazer and/or Unsung Heroine] Award in the subject line of the email. Any application received after the January 31st, 2018 deadline will not be included for consideration by the Latinas First Foundation.
  • Awards Criteria

    The following criteria apply to the nominees of the specific awards. Latina Trailblazer Award
    › Significant Latina First who has blazed a trail for others to follow.
    › Extensive contributions to the Latino/a community.
    › Proven history of creating change and/or demonstrating impact benefiting the Latino/a community at the local, state, or national level.
    › Demonstrated leadership in the Latino/a community.
    › Record of recognition by peers for legal projects or professional achievements, such as business or non-profit affiliations.
    › Record of recognition by other awards, honors, achievements, or publications that support this nomination.
    Latina Unsung Heroine Award
    › Commitment to the Latinas First Foundation's Mission and to the Latino/a community through pro bono, community service or other activities.
    › Not often recognized for demonstrated efforts and commitment to the Latino/a community.
